Sumi Sukumaran Nair, M.D., is a nephrologist in the division of Nephrology with primary clinical focus in kidney and pancreas transplant.

Areas of clinical expertise include:

  • Evaluation of patients before kidney transplantation, pancreas transplantation, simultaneous liver-kidney and simultaneous heart kidney-transplantation
  • Management of immunosuppression after transplantation
  • Evaluation and management of the complications after kidney or pancreas transplantation
  • Evaluation of living kidney donors
  • Paired kidney exchange

Research interests include outcomes of kidney and pancreas transplantation , transplant immunology, medication adherence and mineral bone disease after transplantation.

In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Nair is active in research and education.

Dr.Nair is the associate program director for Transplant Nephrology Fellowship and is the assistant block director for the renal block for the School of Medicine.
