Rochester construction updates 2nd St SW Closure Underground infrastructure and utility work will begin on 2nd St SW on Monday, April 21. The work will progress in phases, starting between Broadway Ave S and 1st Ave SW, and moving westward to 5th Ave SW over several months. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction during construction. The project is expected to be completed by late 2025. Beginning Tuesday, May 13, 2nd St SW will be closed to through traffic (all lanes, each direction) between 6th Ave SW and 4th Ave SW to make way for the construction of a tunnel providing nearby access from the new clinical building to a future Rochester Public Transit station. Patients and visitors will still be able, and are encouraged, to continue to use 2nd St SW for downtown appointment parking and drop-offs by following posted detour signage.
