Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bloody nose
  3. bloody stools
  4. blurred vision
  5. chills
  6. confusion
  7. dizziness
  8. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  9. fainting
  10. fast heartbeat
  11. fever
  12. lightheadedness
  13. rapid, shallow breathing
  14. sweating
  15. unusual tiredness or weakness
  16. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds

Less common

  1. Chest pain
  2. cough or hoarseness
  3. lower back or side pain
  4. painful or difficult urination
  5. sneezing
  6. sore throat
  7. tightness in the chest
  8. troubled breathing

Less common or rare

  1. Difficulty with swallowing
  2. hives, itching, or skin rash
  3. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  4. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue

Incidence not known

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. coughing up blood
  3. headache
  4. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  5. nosebleeds
  6. paralysis
  7. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  8. red or black, tarry stools
  9. red or dark brown urine

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. nausea
  3. vomiting
