Abhishek Mangaonkar, M.B.B.S., is an assistant professor of oncology and medicine at Mayo Clinic, and a consultant in the Division of Hematology. He received his medical degree from Grant Medical College and completed his residency in internal medicine at Medical College of Georgia, and his fellowship in hematology/oncology and blood and marrow transplant at Mayo Clinic. He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology.

Dr. Mangaonkar has a special interest in inherited bone marrow failure syndromes, myelodysplastic syndromes, and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and abstracts, and serves as an editorial board member and reviewer for several hematology journals. He has received several awards and honors for his academic and research excellence, such as the Outstanding Research Fellow Award from Mayo Clinic, the Abstract Achievement Award from American Society of Hematology, and the Gold Medal in Surgery from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. He is also involved in clinical and translational research projects, focusing on the immune microenvironment and clonal evolution of myeloid neoplasms, and the development of novel therapies for these disorders.

  • Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell or bone marrow transplantation for bone marrow failure disorders and leukemias.
  • Myeloid leukemias such as myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative (MDS/MPN) overlap neoplasms, myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN), and acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
