Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. bloating
  4. blood in the urine or stools
  5. bloody eye
  6. blurred vision other change in vision
  7. bone pain
  8. chest pain or tightness
  9. chills
  10. clay colored stools
  11. cloudy urine
  12. confusion
  13. constipation
  14. cough
  15. dark urine
  16. decreased appetite
  17. difficulty in moving
  18. dizziness
  19. dry mouth
  20. eye pain
  21. fainting
  22. fast heartbeat
  23. fear, nervousness
  24. fever
  25. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  26. headache
  27. increased hunger
  28. increased thirst
  29. increased urination
  30. indigestion
  31. irregular heartbeat
  32. itching
  33. joint pain
  34. loss of appetite
  35. nausea or vomiting
  36. mood or mental changes
  37. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  38. nausea
  39. neck pain
  40. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  41. numbness or tingling of the hands, feet, or lips
  42. painful or difficult urination
  43. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  44. pale skin
  45. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  46. pounding in the ears
  47. redness of the eye
  48. seizures
  49. sensitivity of the eyes to light
  50. slow or fast heartbeat
  51. sore throat
  52. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  53. spinal pain
  54. stomach pain, cramps, or tenderness
  55. sweating
  56. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  57. swollen glands
  58. swollen joints
  59. tearing
  60. thickening of bronchial secretions
  61. tremor
  62. trouble breathing
  63. unexplained weight loss
  64. unusual bleeding or bruising
  65. unusual tiredness or weakness
  66. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  67. weakness or heaviness of the legs
  68. yellow eyes or skin

Less common

  1. Agitation
  2. back pain
  3. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  4. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  5. burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations
  6. chest discomfort
  7. coma
  8. decreased urine output
  9. diarrhea
  10. dry skin and hair
  11. ear congestion
  12. feeling cold
  13. flushing
  14. hair loss
  15. hoarseness or husky voice
  16. hostility
  17. irritability
  18. lethargy
  19. loss of taste or smell
  20. loss of voice
  21. lower back or side pain
  22. muscle cramps, pain, stiffness, or twitching
  23. muscle or body aches
  24. nerve pain
  25. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  26. rapid weight gain
  27. sensitivity to heat
  28. shivering
  29. sneezing
  30. stuffy or runny nose
  31. stupor
  32. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  33. trouble sleeping
  34. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  35. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Rare

  1. Bloody nose
  2. blue or pale skin
  3. chest pain, possibly moving to the left arm, neck, or shoulder
  4. difficulty in chewing, swallowing, or talking
  5. double vision
  6. drooping eyelids
  7. drowsiness
  8. head injury
  9. heavier menstrual periods
  10. inability to move the arms and legs
  11. lightheadedness
  12. muscle weakness
  13. redness, soreness, or itching skin
  14. seeing flashes or sparks of light
  15. seeing floating spots before the eyes, or a veil or curtain appearing across part of vision
  16. stiff neck or back
  17. sudden numbness and weakness in the arms and legs
  18. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  19. throbbing pain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  2. thinning of the hair

Rare

  1. Lack or loss of strength
