Research

Mayo Clinic researchers study new ways to diagnose and treat people who have pericarditis. Mayo researchers pioneered a procedure to remove and drain the excess fluid from the pericardial cavity. That procedure, called pericardiocentesis, has reduced complications related to the procedure.

You may have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials. Read more about research in the Cardiovascular Research Center.
