1. Magnetic Resonance Elastography of Dementia

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to develop and test the effectiveness of an investigational imaging technique called magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) to measure the stiffness (mechanical properties) of tissues.

2. A Study to Evaluate a Primary Care-Based Intervention for Adolescent Restrictive Eating Disorders

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility, acceptability, usability, and preliminary outcomes of a treatment protocol (FBT-PC) for PCP management of adolescent restrictive eating disorders.

3. Arizona Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC-001)

   Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

   There is evidence that neurodegenerative changes precede clinical symptoms in Alzheimer’s disease by two decades (Villemagne et al, 2013). Early detection is critical for development of interventions to halt, slow, or even reverse these pathological processes. The promise of plasma biomarkers to identify early pathology is growing rapidly (Palmqvist et al, 2020), however it is likely that multiple converging biomarkers will be necessary to identify the earliest pathological changes, as subtle differences from healthy controls may fall within the margin of error for any given single biomarker measure. Here we propose that the evaluation of speech and language for both baseline (cross-sectional) and longitudinal changes (within-participant) may add significant value to early pre-clinical pathological changes in MCI and AD. This is bolstered by emerging evidence of the relationship between language characteristics and amyloid burden (Verfaillie et al, 2019) and the large literature that characterizes language-use differences and deficits across the spectrum of cognitive decline (e.g., Mueller et al, 2018). We propose to add a series of in-clinic language elicitation tasks that allow for automated assessment of relevant speech and language domains and to validate these measures cross-sectionally and longitudinally relevant to neuropsychological, blood, and PET biomarkers.

4. Advanced Care Planning in Dementia

   Jacksonville, Fla.

   The goal of this study is to gain a better understanding of the status of advanced care planning among caregivers of patients with dementia and examine how this differs by race and disease stage.

5. A Study Evaluating the Prevalence, Incidence and Predictors for Development of the Impulse Control Disorders in Patients with Prolactinomas Treated with Dopamine Agonist Therapy

   Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla.

   The purpose of this study is to establish incidence and prevalence of Impulse Control Disorders (ICDs) in patients with prolactinomas treated with dopamine agonists (DA), to determine the predictors of ICD development, and to establish a predictor scoring system that could be subsequently validated and applied prior to initiation of DA.

6. A Study to Evaluate AAV8-human Cocaine Hydrolase to Treat Cocaine Use Disorder

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to see if an experimental agent, when given to subjects who wish to abstain from cocaine, will decrease their craving for cocaine and prevent them from relapsing and returning to cocaine use.  This experimental agent is called AAV8-hCocH; and it is a gene modified viral vector.  We want to determine the safety of its use in adults who have a cocaine use disorder in sustained remission.  

7. A Study to Evaluate Visually Inspired Patient Education Material on Willingness to Pursue Radiation Therapy

   Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

   The purpose of this study is to measure how patient anxiety changes using a validated patient reported outcome measure, to measure radiotherapy completion rates in the American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) community, and to measure patient perception of information received using a validated patient reported outcome measure.

    

    

8. An Open Label Trial of TMS Therapy for Bipolar Depression

   Rochester, Minn.

   Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an increasingly accepted neurostimulation- based treatment for major depressive disorder. While there is a growing anecdotal database supporting its use in bipolar depression the investigators propose to collect open label efficacy and safety data in a small population of patients with clinically verified bipolar disorder.

9. 8 Week Multi-site Study of MYDAYIS® for Bipolar Depression

   Rochester, Minn., Eau Claire, Wis., Austin, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness and safety of MYDAYIS® as an augmentation agent for bipolar depression.

10. A Prospective Registry for Patients with REM Sleep Behavior Disorder and Polysomnographic REM Sleep without Atonia and Controls

    Rochester, Minn.

    The purpose of this study is to follow patients with REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) over time and learn which types of RBD patients may be at risk of developing other diseases.
