Endoscopy Clinic Overview Print The Endoscopy Clinic performs a wide range of endoscopic procedures that allow both diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders, such as peptic ulcers, polyps, cancers, and blockages of the bile ducts due to stones, inflammation and tumors. The Endoscopy Clinic has a special interest in bleeding from the intestines, the treatment of precancerous abnormalities in conditions referred to as Barrett's esophagus, and familial adenomatous polyposis syndrome. The group also specializes in the evaluation and development of new forms of endoscopes and endoscopic techniques. The DEU carries out patient care-related endoscopic research studies. The mission of the DEU includes providing new endoscope and endoscope accessories testing grounds, providing cutting-edge diagnostic endoscopy and therapeutic endoscopy, and developing new endoscopic equipment and techniques. In addition to patient care-related activities, the DEU carries out innovative research within the animal research facilities of Mayo Clinic with special assistance and monitoring from the Mayo Clinic staff veterinarians and veterinary paramedical personnel.
