A Study to Analyze the Association Between Financial and Health Insurance Literacy and Financial Distress in Patients Being Treated for Cancer Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to assess the level of financial and health insurance literacy and financial distress in cancer patients coming to the infusion center by analyzing the correlation amongst these outcomes, as well assessing their association with baseline sociodemographic and disease/ treatment factors. Epidemiology of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Rochester, Minn. The overall goals of this study are to evaluate similarities and differences of the known genetic and non-genetic epidemiological factors associated with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) risk across African Americans, Hispanics, and Caucasian populations. A Study to Determine the Effect of Distance Reiki on Patient Reported Quality of Life (PRQoL) and Immunity Among Multiple Myeloma Patients Rochester, Minn. This study aims to demonstrate acceptability and feasibility of the use of Distance Reiki therapy versus sham Reiki therapy among multiple myeloma patients. It also aims to determine if there is a minimal clinically meaningful improvement in various QOL domains (Physical, Social, Emotional), overall QOL with use of Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS-29) and Single Item Linear Analogue Scale (LASA) after Distance Reik. Lastly, it aims to analyze the effect of Distance Reiki on expansion of the immune repertoire by comparing immune repertoires at baseline and at the end of the study by using Mass spectrometry by CyTOF® and multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) sequencing of the T-cell receptors (TCRs) for assessment of immune repertoire diversity by iRepertoire®. International Hepatobiliary Neoplasia Registry and Biorepository Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. This study is being done to: 1. Create a registry of patients having or at risk for cancer of the liver or bile ducts (also known as hepatocellular carcinoma or cholangiocarcinoma), or gallbladder cancer, and those individuals who have normal risk factors in order to improve the ability to diagnose and treat these cancers. We will use information in the medical record in this registry including how far advanced the cancer is (stage) and what treatments are used to treat the cancer. 2. A second purpose of this study is to obtain blood and tissue samples from participants having or at risk for developing cancer of the liver or bile ducts or gallbladder cancer to be used for future research testing. Future testing may include searching for changes in the genetic material (DNA and other molecules). Differences in Immunological Effects of Vitamin D Replacement Among African American Prostate Cancer Patients With Localized Versus Metastatic Disease Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The aims of this study are to evaluate the prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency among B/AA prostate cancer patients and to determine the deficits in immunity associated with vitamin D insufficiency. Also, we will evaluate whether the peripheral blood immune cell function is different in B/AA prostate cancer patients with metastatic disease as compared with those with localized disease. A Study of Nab-Paclitaxel as Maintenance Treatment After Cisplatin-Based Chemotherapy and Surgery for Patients with High-Risk Bladder Cancer Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to evaluate nab-paclitaxel as maintenance therapy after cisplatin-based chemotherapy and surgery in treating patients with high-risk bladder cancer. Maintenance therapy, such as paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation, can help keep cancer from coming back after it has disappeared following initial chemotherapy. Study of RP-6306 With FOLFIRI in Advanced Solid Tumors Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The primary purpose of this study is to assess the safety and tolerability of RP-6306 with FOLFIRI in patients with eligible advanced solid tumors, determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD), identify a recommended phase 2 dose (RP2D) and preferred schedule, and assess preliminary anti-tumor activity. PLX038 for the Treatment of Metastatic Ovarian, Peritoneal, and Fallopian Tube Cancers Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to determine the response rate to PLX-038 in patients with metastatic ovarian, primary peritoneal, and fallopian tube cancers that are resistant to platinum drugs. First-in-Human Study of XMT-1536 in Cancers Likely to Express NaPi2b Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla. The primary objective of this study is to determine the confirmed investigator-assessed objective response rate of XMT-1536 (upifitamab rilsodotin) in patients with higher sodium-dependent phosphate transport protein 2b (NaPi2b) expressing platinum-resistant high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC), including cancers of ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal origin) Note: Mayo Clinic is only participating in the Phase 2 - Cohort 3 (UPLIFT) portion of the study. Mayo Clinic will not be participating in the QTC sub-study. Effect of Agent Orange Exposure on Endocrine Tumor Aggressiveness Jacksonville, Fla., Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The intent is to collect relevant clinical data on patients exposed to Agent Orange plus assessment of the tissue for genetic mutations known to be associated with growth of thyroid cancer and pituitary tumors and report our findings as a descriptive case series. The patient comes first. So the mission and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the patient comes first in care. So in many ways, it's a cycle. It can start with as simple as an idea worked on in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right — and let's say it's helpful or beneficial — then brought on as a standard approach. And I think that is one of the unique characteristics of Mayo's approach to research — that patient-centeredness — that really helps to put it in its own spotlight.
