Clinical trials Below are current clinical trials.501 studies in Oncology (Medical) (open studies only). Filter this list of studies by location, status and more. DNA Methylation in Adenocarcinoma of the Prostate: Tissue Validation of Biomarkers and Pilot Testing in Blood Rochester, Minn. The study will be performed in two phases: Phase I will be performed for biologic validation of marker candidates from a discovery cohort and phase II will be performed to evaluate the discrimination (sensitivity/specificity) of best candidate markers when assayed from blood of cases with CAP and controls without history of cancer. Epidemiology of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Rochester, Minn. The overall goals of this study are to evaluate similarities and differences of the known genetic and non-genetic epidemiological factors associated with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) risk across African Americans, Hispanics, and Caucasian populations. International Hepatobiliary Neoplasia Registry and Biorepository Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. This study is being done to: 1. Create a registry of patients having or at risk for cancer of the liver or bile ducts (also known as hepatocellular carcinoma or cholangiocarcinoma), or gallbladder cancer, and those individuals who have normal risk factors in order to improve the ability to diagnose and treat these cancers. We will use information in the medical record in this registry including how far advanced the cancer is (stage) and what treatments are used to treat the cancer. 2. A second purpose of this study is to obtain blood and tissue samples from participants having or at risk for developing cancer of the liver or bile ducts or gallbladder cancer to be used for future research testing. Future testing may include searching for changes in the genetic material (DNA and other molecules). Differences in Immunological Effects of Vitamin D Replacement Among African American Prostate Cancer Patients With Localized Versus Metastatic Disease Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The aims of this study are to evaluate the prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency among B/AA prostate cancer patients and to determine the deficits in immunity associated with vitamin D insufficiency. Also, we will evaluate whether the peripheral blood immune cell function is different in B/AA prostate cancer patients with metastatic disease as compared with those with localized disease. A Study to Analyze the Association Between Financial and Health Insurance Literacy and Financial Distress in Patients Being Treated for Cancer Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to assess the level of financial and health insurance literacy and financial distress in cancer patients coming to the infusion center by analyzing the correlation amongst these outcomes, as well assessing their association with baseline sociodemographic and disease/ treatment factors. A Study to Determine the Effect of Distance Reiki on Patient Reported Quality of Life (PRQoL) and Immunity Among Multiple Myeloma Patients Rochester, Minn. This study aims to demonstrate acceptability and feasibility of the use of Distance Reiki therapy versus sham Reiki therapy among multiple myeloma patients. It also aims to determine if there is a minimal clinically meaningful improvement in various QOL domains (Physical, Social, Emotional), overall QOL with use of Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS-29) and Single Item Linear Analogue Scale (LASA) after Distance Reik. Lastly, it aims to analyze the effect of Distance Reiki on expansion of the immune repertoire by comparing immune repertoires at baseline and at the end of the study by using Mass spectrometry by CyTOF® and multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) sequencing of the T-cell receptors (TCRs) for assessment of immune repertoire diversity by iRepertoire®. SX-682 Treatment in Subjects With Myelodysplastic Syndrome Who Had Disease Progression or Are Intolerant to Prior Therapy Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to determine the safety profile, maximum tolerated dose (MTD), dose-limiting toxicities (DLT), and recommended Phase 2 dose (RP2D) of SX-682 in the treatment of patients with Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS). A Study of Nab-Paclitaxel as Maintenance Treatment After Cisplatin-Based Chemotherapy and Surgery for Patients with High-Risk Bladder Cancer Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to evaluate nab-paclitaxel as maintenance therapy after cisplatin-based chemotherapy and surgery in treating patients with high-risk bladder cancer. Maintenance therapy, such as paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation, can help keep cancer from coming back after it has disappeared following initial chemotherapy. Evaluation of Outcomes in Metastatic Gastric and Esophageal Carcinoma in Relation to Immunotherapy Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is: To assess the efficacy of treatment with checkpoint inhibitors (Pembrolizumab or Nivolumab) in metastatic gastric and esophageal carcinoma through retrospective chart review. To explore if response to checkpoint inhibitors is dependent on biomarkers on tumor tissue. Study of RP-6306 With FOLFIRI in Advanced Solid Tumors Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The primary purpose of this study is to assess the safety and tolerability of RP-6306 with FOLFIRI in patients with eligible advanced solid tumors, determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD), identify a recommended phase 2 dose (RP2D) and preferred schedule, and assess preliminary anti-tumor activity. The patient comes first. So the mission and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the patient comes first in care. So in many ways, it's a cycle. It can start with as simple as an idea worked on in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right — and let's say it's helpful or beneficial — then brought on as a standard approach. And I think that is one of the unique characteristics of Mayo's approach to research — that patient-centeredness — that really helps to put it in its own spotlight.
