Mayo Clinic dermatologists, physician-scientists and other researchers study new diagnostic and treatment options to improve care for the skin, mucous membranes, hair and nails. Mayo Clinic is involved in national multicenter studies, evaluation of potential treatments (clinical trials) and basic science research. You may have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials.

Our specialists are committed to offering the most up-to-date care possible, including new regenerative medicine therapies developed with the Center for Regenerative Biotherapeutics. For example, they use a regenerative medicine approach called platelet-rich plasma therapy, also called PRP. It's a nonsurgical approach to improving the appearance of facial tissue. Mayo Clinic dermatologists also use PRP with success to treat people with certain types of hair loss.
