Clinical trials Below are current clinical trials.92 studies in Cardiovascular Medicine (open studies only). Filter this list of studies by location, status and more. A Study of the Impact of Cardiac Rehabilitation after Myectomy Procedure for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to describe the clinical impact of cardiac rehabilitation in patients who have undergone myectomy for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Compare the clinical outcomes of patients who have attended cardiac rehab with those who have not attended after myectomy for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. MediCool Protocol Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to assess termination of atrial fibrillation (AF) following delivery of cold treatment to the oblique sinus using an experimental cooling module. Molecular Analysis of Blood for the Detection of Cardiovascular Pathogens Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to test whether metagenomic shotgun sequencing can identify pathogens causing cardiovascular infections such as infective endocarditis or myocarditis. A Study to Assess Measurements in Cardiomyopathy Patients Using Software for Multi-level Reconstruction of Three Dimensional Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) or Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE) Images Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to utilize three dimensional (3D) transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) or 3D transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) to measure various mitral chordal, annular, and leaflet measurements and LV size to better understand the mechanism of regurgitation in patients with FMR. A Study of Autoimmune Functions in Patients with Myocarditis Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this research is to study immune cells called T cells and monocytes (types of blood cells that fight infection and can also cause autoimmune disease) that may damage heart tissue during myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle). Cytokines (proteins that send signals between cells) found in the blood will be studied for their effects on blood immune cells to better understand how they can lead to heart failure during and after myocarditis. Analysis of Outcomes of Left Cardiac Sympathetic Denervation in Arrhythmia Syndromes and Cardiomyopathies Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to collect and review the Mayo Clinic experience with left cardiac sympathetic denervation (LCSD) in patients with heritable arrhythmias syndromes or refractory ventricular arrhythmias beginning in 2000. Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome: Validating Functional Parameters and Novel Echocardiographic Imaging Strategies for Evaluation of Functionally Single Right Ventricular Performance using Previously Recorded Studies Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to validate novel echocardiographic parameters and algorithms to quantitatively evaluate right ventricular function in patients with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) by applying these methods to previously acquired echocardiographic examinations. A Study to Assess Frailty and Its Impact on Patients with Pulmonary Hypertension Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the prevalence and effect of frailty in patients referred to pulmonary hypertension (PH) clinic at our institution. A Study to Assess Virtual Reality As Anesthesia Adjunct During Electrophysiology Lab Procedures Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of virtual reality (VR) technology as adjunct to routine anesthesia care for patients undergoing electrophysiology (EP) procedures. EvALuation of ECG transmission and AI models using Apple watch ECGs and symptoms data collected usiNg a Mayo iPhone App Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to assess cardiovascular health and detect unknown and asymptomatic diseases using Mayo AI-ECG algorithms. We hypothesize that using single lead ECGs and symptoms data collected by patients using their personal Apple Watch (FDA approved for AF detection) via a Mayo Clinic app, will allow data to be shared within a dashboard in Epic, so physicians may have a way to remotely assess cardiovascular health. The patient comes first. So the mission and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the patient comes first in care. So in many ways, it's a cycle. It can start with as simple as an idea worked on in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right — and let's say it's helpful or beneficial — then brought on as a standard approach. And I think that is one of the unique characteristics of Mayo's approach to research — that patient-centeredness — that really helps to put it in its own spotlight.
