Biographical summary
Linda X. Yin, M.D., is a head and neck cancer and reconstructive surgeon. Cancers in the head and neck region often take away structures that give people a sense of identity and the ability to speak and eat. Dr. Yin understands the toll that cancer takes on a patient; she has a passion not only for treating the underlying disease, but also to bring back form and function after treatment.
Dr. Yin grew up in New York City and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated at the top of her class from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her surgical training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and underwent advanced fellowship training in head and neck oncology and microvascular (free flap) reconstruction at the University of Michigan. Her clinical excellence and compassion for patients has been recognized with the Barbara Bush Distinguished Fellowship Award.
In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Yin actively engages in research and education activities within the department. She has dedicated her research career to improving quality of life for patients after cancer treatment. As an expert in the field, she has authored over 60 publications and multiple book chapters and speaks frequently at national meetings.
