Biographical summary
Kirk M. Welker, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Radiology and leads the MRI section within the Division of Neuroradiology. His main areas of clinical and research interest are:
- Magnetic resonance imaging of neurological diseases
- Functional MRI for presurgical mapping of the brain
- Ultrahigh field MRI
- Epilepsy imaging
- Head and neck imaging
In addition to the above interests, Dr. Welker enjoys teaching radiology residents and fellows. He is has served on the Executive Committee of the American Society of Functional Neuroradiology since
2010 where he has worked to define national clinical standards for the performance of advanced MRI techniques. He is also a frequent lecturer on functional MRI and epilepsy imaging.
