Biographical summary
Michael P. Skolka, M.D., is a board-certified neurologist in the Department of Neurology at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He received his medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University College
of Medicine and completed his neurology residency and then neuromuscular fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Skolka specializes in neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic medicine focusing on
evaluation and management of complex neuropathies, muscle diseases, and defects of the neuromuscular junction.
In addition to his clinical interests, Dr. Skolka is active in research, medical education, and quality improvement. He has spearheaded several award-winning research projects in neuromuscular medicine
and was honored to receive the Golseth award from the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) as well as the Mayo Clinic Neurology Trainee Research award during his fellowship for innovative research. He is active in medical education and was a founding member and co-chair of the young leadership council at the AANEM to help develop future leaders in
neuromuscular medicine. He also has a passion for quality improvement and, along with his team, received a national quality improvement innovation award from the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) for multidisciplinary efforts to improve neurology patient outcomes at Mayo Clinic.
