Biographical summary
Katrina Pedersen, M.D., M.S., is a medical oncologist specializing in gastrointestinal cancers with a focus in lower GI tract and rare GI cancers. Her clinical focus includes comprehensive and multidisciplinary care of:
- Small bowel (intestine) adenocarcinoma
- Young-onset (early adult) GI cancers
- Colon cancer
- Rectal cancer
- Anal cancer
- Appendiceal cancer
In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Pedersen is active in research and education. Her research focuses in conducting clinical trials to develop new treatments for small bowel and colorectal cancers, applying new molecular technologies to improve GI cancer care, advancing the understanding and treatment of young-onset colorectal cancer, and evolving multidisciplinary treatments of locally advanced rectal cancer. She actively serves and leads a number of national and international committees to advance these aims.
