Dr. Jones joined Mayo Clinic in May 2023 after an 18-year career at the University of Western Ontario and London Health Sciences Centre in London, Ontario, Canada where he was full Professor in the Departments of Anesthesia & Perioperative Medicine and Epidemiology & Biostatistics. His clinical focuses are cardiac anesthesiology and liver transplant anesthesiology. He formerly worked in cardiac critical care.

In addition to his clinical contributions, Dr. Jones is a formally trained research scientist, methodologist, and analyst. Throughout the course of his career, he has contributed to more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, and he has presented his research at more than 30 national, international, and regional conferences. He is currently serving as a primary or co-investigator on multiple active research grants, and he has served as a primary or co-investigator on over 25 completed research grants.

He is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia (CJA) and he is a reviewer for many peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Jones is an active member of several professional societies. He is the Chair of the Research Advisory Committee of the Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society. Before leaving London, he was the Chair of the Research Ethics Board for the University of Western Ontario.
