Tambi Jarmi, M.D.

My name is Tambi Jarmi. I'm a transplant nephrologist by training and I work here at Mayo Clinic as the chair of the division of transplant nephrologist. One of the main reason that makes me get up in the morning and come to work here, especially at Mayo Clinic, is the chance that I am given by my colleagues, by Mayo Clinic in general to be part of the change. And that change is not any ordinary change. It's a change in patient's life. We do have the capability, the team approach to really impact patients live. We provide a new chance, new life opportunity for those patients in need that have end stage organ diseases. And this is, I think the ultimate goal and the ultimate joy for anybody in my shoes to come and be part of that process. The idea is to change the way transplant is being performed in the country and probably in the world. We are moving the field forward. With a simple idea. Number one, no patients should need a transplant because we need to prevent organ failure. However, if that happen, then we should be able to provide these patients with a transplant in a timely fashion. We approach this issue with the idea of a healing process, not just transplantation.
