Luke J. Burchill, MBBS, Ph.D., is a cardiologist with expertise in adult congenital heart disease. He trained at the Toronto Congenital Cardiac Center for Adults where he was the first person to complete a combined fellowship in both adult congenital heart disease and advanced heart failure. His research demonstrating better survival among adults congenital patients following heart transplantation has helped shape clinical care guidelines in the United States, and around the world. Moving with his family to Minnesota in 2021, he is excited to join the Mayo Clinic Adult Congenital Heart Disease team and lead development of the Mayo Clinic's Adult Congenital Heart Failure Care Pathway.

Dr. Burchill's research increasingly focused on helping patients to gain access to high quality evidence-based care that meets them where they are according to their needs. He currently serves as President of the International Society for Adult Congenital Heart Disease, the peak global organization for clinicians who care for adults living with congenital heart disease.

Dr. Burchill is a proud member of Australia's Yorta Yorta and Dja Dja Wurrung Aboriginal Nations. He serves as Indigenous co-lead for the Australian Stroke Alliance in which the world's first air stroke ambulances are being developed to reduce stroke disability for rural, remote and Indigenous Australians.
