Jerry D. Brewer, M.D., has been a member of the Mayo Clinic staff since 2009. As a dermatologist and surgeon, Dr. Brewer's areas of interest include cutaneous oncology, Mohs micrographic surgery, skin cancer in immunosuppressed patients, laser therapy, vascular surgery, hyperhidrosis, lymphoma associated skin cancer, melanoma epidemiology, Merkel cell carcinoma, and Extra-mammary Paget's Disease.

Dr. Brewer is a Professor of Dermatology and the program director of the Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship in Rochester. His research interests include the association of lymphoma and skin cancer, skin cancer in transplant recipients, and melanoma epidemiology.

Throughout his time as a medical student and resident/fellow, Dr. Brewer received some of the highest honors given to medical learners, including the Penfil Award at Wayne State University School of Medicine and the Mayo Brothers Distinguished Fellowship Award. As a dermatologist, surgeon, and researcher, he has also received numerous awards recognizing his excellence in patient care, research and scholarly activity, and clinical practice.

Dr. Brewer has served on subcommittees for the American Academy of Dermatology, and has served on the board of directors of the International Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative, and the American College of Mohs Surgery. Dr. Brewer served as an item writer for the American Board of Dermatology for 8 years and currently serves as a Director of the American Board of Dermatology.  Dr. Brewer served as president of the Minnesota Dermatologic Society, Secretary/Treasurer of the Mayo Fellows Association, Secretary/Treasurer of the American College of Mohs Surgery and currently serves as Vice President of the American College of Mohs surgery.
