Biographical summary
Barry A. Boilson, M.D., is a board certified cardiologist with a specialty interest in Advanced Heart Failure and Rhythm Disorders of the heart. He attended medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland receiving his MB BaO BCh degrees and subsequently MD degree from the National University of Ireland. He has an interest in Cardiac Physiology and obtained a PhD degree in physiology from Charles University in Prague. After completing residency and cardiology training in Ireland, Dr. Boilson completed a research fellowship in stem cell biology at Mayo Clinic and further clinical fellowship training in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Electrophysiology.
Dr. Boilson has a research interest in stem cell biology and the effect of heart failure on endogenous stem cells. He also has a research interest in arrhythmias in heart failure, particularly in those who have received left ventricular assist devices, and in novel techniques to detect early thrombosis in LVAD recipients.
