Delamo I. Bekele, M.B.B.S.

Dr. Bekele is a clinical rheumatologist with a focus on inflammatory arthritis and vasculitis while nurturing interests in research and medical education encompassing the three shields.

His clinical practice is focused on:

• Diagnosis and management of inflammatory arthritis: rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, axial and peripheral spondyloarthritis, gout, and calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease.
• Polymyalgia rheumatic and systemic vasculitis.
• Sarcoidosis and other rare systemic autoimmune disorders.
• Evaluation and treatment of extra-articular manifestations of systemic autoimmune disease including inflammatory eye disease, interstitial lung disease.

In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Bekele has research interests/is involved in epidemiology and therapeutics of rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthritis, exploring the interplay between rheumatic and hematologic diseases.

He is interested in medical education and is currently taking courses with future plans of teaching rheumatology to medical students, residents and fellows and pursuing a diploma/masters in health professional education.

He is also interested in service and has served on committees for the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and Spondyloarthritis Treatment Network (SPARTAN).
