Silvia M. Titan, M.D., Ph.D.

Silvia M. Titan, M.D., Ph.D., is a nephrologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she has practiced since 2022. She is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Dr. Titan completed her medical degree, residency, fellowship, and doctoral training in nephrology at the University of São Paulo Medical School in Brazil, followed by additional fellowship training in Nephrology at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

Her clinical and research interests include chronic kidney disease (CKD), glomerulonephritis, nephrogenetics, and disorders of mineral metabolism and bone health in CKD. Her research uses clinical and epidemiological approaches to investigate risk factors, biomarkers, and determinants of CKD progression and CKD-related complications. She is the Principal Investigator of the PROGREDIR Study, a CKD cohort in Brazil. In 2023, she received the "Mary Kathryn and Michael B. Panitch Career Development Award in Hypertension Research Honoring Gary Schwartz, M.D." to investigate the genetic determinants of CKD.
