You can use this secure app to access up-to-date information, such as test results. You also can complete questionnaires, review educational materials and request comfort items — all from the convenience of your smartphone.

    The FAQs below provides more information about the Bedside at Mayo Clinic app. 

    • The app provides a digital option to follow your care while you are in the hospital. In addition, you can access questionnaires and educational materials specific to your care. This allows you to input or review information on your smartphone at your own pace. You also can use the app to request comfort items during your hospital stay.

    • Both the Bedside at Mayo Clinic app and the Mayo Clinic Patient Portal provide you with secure access to your medical information. The Bedside at Mayo Clinic app is specific to your hospital stay.

    • You can request warm blankets, heating pads and ice packs. The app also includes a Food and Drink tab to request water, coffee and snacks. 

    • Yes. Your healthcare team remains available to offer support and answer questions. The Bedside at Mayo Clinic app provides another digital option to follow your care during your hospital stay. 

    • When you are admitted to the hospital, your electronic health record with Mayo Clinic is updated to show that you are receiving care at one of our hospitals. When you log in to the Bedside at Mayo Clinic app, the information from your electronic health record during your hospital stay is securely and automatically updated to the app. This allows you to follow your care. 

    • You do not have to use the app. Your care team also can answer questions and provide support during your hospital stay. In some locations, a Mayo Clinic tablet may be provided for you to follow your care while you are in the hospital.

    • Currently, the app is only available for patients 18 years of age or older. Parents, caregivers, and those with proxy access for a child or adult patient cannot use the Bedside at Mayo Clinic app to follow the care of a child or loved one. Additional updates to the app, including caregiver/proxy access, are planned.

    • It is important to have a secure app where your data is protected. Privacy and security are a priority at Mayo Clinic. The Bedside at Mayo Clinic app is secure and follows health information privacy guidelines.

    • The app is designed specifically for smartphones. 

    • Following your care after a hospital stay is important. Unlike the Mayo Clinic Patient Portal, the Bedside at Mayo Clinic app cannot be used to follow your healthcare after a hospital stay. Once you are discharged, the system will recognize this change and stop updating your information in the Bedside at Mayo Clinic app. You can access details from your hospital stay and other healthcare information in the patient portal.

      If you do not have a patient portal account, you can create one today or call Mayo Clinic Customer Assistance at 877-858-0398, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Central time. 

    • Once you are discharged from the hospital, you can leave the app on your smartphone. The app will automatically update your information if you are readmitted to the hospital.
