I am a transplant patient. What should I do to protect myself from COVID-19?

Because end-stage organ disease and immunosuppression post-transplant weakens the body's immune system, pre- and post-transplant patients are among those at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19. To protect yourself from COVID-19, follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations for people who need to take extra precautions.

Should I wear a face mask?

Because so many people receiving transplant care are immunocompromised, they may request a mask and are encouraged to wear it throughout their entire health care visit, for their own protection.

In addition, please continue to follow the CDC's recommendations for people at high risk of COVID-19.
