Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  3. bone pain
  4. chest pain
  5. chills
  6. confusion
  7. cough
  8. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  9. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  10. decreased urine output
  11. depression
  12. difficult or trouble breathing
  13. difficult, fast, noisy breathing
  14. dizziness
  15. eye pain
  16. fainting
  17. fast heartbeat
  18. fever
  19. general feeling of illness
  20. headache
  21. hostility
  22. increased sweating
  23. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  24. irritability
  25. lightheadedness
  26. loss of consciousness
  27. muscle or joint pain
  28. muscle twitching
  29. nausea
  30. pale skin
  31. rapid weight gain
  32. rapid, shallow breathing
  33. seizures
  34. severe sleepiness
  35. sore throat
  36. swelling around the neck, groin, or underarm area
  37. swelling of the arms, feet, or lower legs
  38. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  39. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
  40. yellow skin or eyes

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Change in taste
  2. decreased appetite
  3. diarrhea
  4. loss of taste
  5. vomiting
