Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. pale skin
  3. trouble breathing
  4. unusual bleeding or bruising
  5. unusual tiredness or weakness

Rare

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. chest pain
  5. chills
  6. confusion
  7. cough
  8. dizziness
  9. fever
  10. irregular heartbeat
  11. mood or mental changes
  12. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  13. nausea or vomiting
  14. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  15. painful or difficult urination
  16. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  17. restlessness
  18. seizures
  19. sore throat
  20. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  21. stomach cramps
  22. swollen glands
  23. tenderness
  24. tremor
  25. watery or bloody diarrhea
  26. weakness or heaviness of the legs

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. back or leg pain
  3. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  4. bloody or cloudy urine
  5. chest tightness
  6. clay-colored stools
  7. coma
  8. cough or hoarseness
  9. dark urine
  10. difficulty swallowing
  11. drowsiness
  12. hallucinations
  13. headache
  14. hives, itching, skin rash
  15. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  16. irritability
  17. joint or muscle pain
  18. loss of appetite
  19. lower back or side pain
  20. muscle twitching or jerking
  21. nosebleeds
  22. paralysis
  23. problems with speech or speaking
  24. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  25. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  26. red irritated eyes
  27. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  28. rhythmic movement of the muscles
  29. stiff neck
  30. sudden decrease in amount of urine
  31. unpleasant breath odor
  32. vomiting of blood
  33. yellowing of the eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bluish color
  2. changes in skin color
  3. dry, red, hot, or irritated skin
  4. swelling of the foot or leg

Rare

  1. Belching
  2. bloated, full feeling
  3. excess air or gas in the stomach
