Courtney Sherman, M.D., is an Assistant Professor and Consultant in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Florida. Dr. Sherman specializes in Orthopedic Oncology and Adult Reconstruction, and has special interests in hip and knee replacements, hip and knee revisions, avascular necrosis of the hip, bone and soft tissue tumors and orthopedic oncology. She treats disorders of the arthritic hip and knee, complex arthroplasty, tumors of the arms, legs and pelvis including: hip and knee replacements including direct anterior total hip arthroplasty, total knee arthroplasty including robotic procedures and partial knee arthroplasty, bone and soft tissue tumor resections and complex reconstructions, hip decompression with or without stem cells for avascular necrosis and complex revision total hip and total knee arthroplasty.

She earned a bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences and graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. She completed her Doctor of Medicine degree and graduated the Glasgow-Rubin Citation of Academic Achievement from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio. Dr. Sherman received her orthopedic surgery training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by a fellowship in Orthopedic Oncology Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Sherman is an advocate for women in orthopedic surgery and is a member of the Ruth Jackson society, mentors residents and fellows in orthopedic surgery and leads an annual Perry Initiative event at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville to encourage young women to consider Orthopedic Surgery or Engineering as a career.

Dr. Sherman has authored many scientific publications, contributed authorship to multiple books, and has served on the Mayo Clinic Hospital Practice subcommittee and Mayo Clinic surgical quality subcommittee.
