红细胞计数高是指由骨髓产生、存在于血液中的一类细胞增多。红细胞主要负责将氧气从肺部转移到身体的其他部位。限制氧气的状况可能导致红细胞计数升高。还有一些状况可能导致身体产生的红细胞供大于求。
不同实验室对红细胞计数高的定义存在差异。一般认为成人的红细胞计数正常范围如下：男性 435 万至 565 万个红细胞/微升（mcL）血液；女性 392 万至 513 万个红细胞/mcL 血液。在儿童中，对红细胞计数高的定义取决于年龄和性别。
低氧水平、滥用某些药物和血癌可能导致红细胞计数高。
红细胞计数高最常在医务人员通过检查寻找症状的原因或检查某些疾病的变化时发现。医务人员会向您解释检查结果的含义。
