Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  3. bloody or cloudy urine
  4. chills
  5. cough
  6. diarrhea
  7. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  8. fever
  9. frequent urge to urinate
  10. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  11. headache
  12. joint pain
  13. loss of appetite
  14. lower back or side pain
  15. muscle aches and pains
  16. nausea
  17. rapid weight gain
  18. runny nose
  19. shivering
  20. sore throat
  21. sweating
  22. tingling of the hands or feet
  23. trouble sleeping
  24. unusual tiredness or weakness
  25. unusual weight gain or loss
  26. vomiting

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Aggressive and violent behavior
  2. agitation
  3. blurred vision
  4. change in color vision
  5. change in consciousness
  6. chest pain or discomfort
  7. confusion
  8. confusion as to time, place, or person
  9. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  10. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  11. depression
  12. difficulty seeing at night
  13. dizziness or lightheadedness
  14. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  15. double vision
  16. excitement
  17. fainting
  18. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  19. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  20. hallucinations
  21. hearing loss
  22. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  23. inability to move the eyes
  24. increased blinking or spasms of the eyelid
  25. increased sensitivity of the eyes to sunlight
  26. irregular or slow heart rate
  27. loss of consciousness
  28. overactive reflexes
  29. poor coordination
  30. restlessness
  31. seeing double
  32. seizures
  33. sensation of spinning
  34. severe sleepiness
  35. shakiness and unsteady walk
  36. shivering
  37. shortness of breath
  38. sticking out of tongue
  39. sweating
  40. talking or acting with excitement you cannot control
  41. trembling or shaking
  42. trouble with breathing, speaking, or swallowing
  43. twitching
  44. uncontrolled eye movements
  45. uncontrolled twisting movements of the neck, trunk, arms, or legs
  46. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  47. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
  48. unusual facial expressions

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Bloated
  2. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  3. full feeling
  4. lack or loss of strength
  5. passing gas
