Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
  2. body aches or pain
  3. chest pain
  4. chills
  5. cough
  6. cracked lips
  7. cracked, dry, or scaly skin
  8. deep cracks, grooves, or lines in the skin
  9. diarrhea
  10. difficulty in swallowing
  11. ear congestion
  12. fever
  13. headache
  14. itching, skin rash
  15. loosening of the fingernails
  16. loss of voice
  17. nasal congestion
  18. redness or soreness around the fingernails
  19. redness, swelling, or pain of the skin
  20. runny nose
  21. scaling of the skin on the hands and feet
  22. sneezing
  23. sore throat sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips, tongue, or inside the mouth
  24. swelling
  25. tightness in the chest
  26. tingling of the hands and feet
  27. trouble breathing
  28. ulceration of the skin
  29. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Confusion
  2. decreased urination
  3. dizziness
  4. dry mouth
  5. fainting
  6. fever
  7. increase in heart rate
  8. lightheadedness
  9. loss of heat from the body
  10. rapid breathing
  11. sunken eyes
  12. thirst
  13. wrinkled skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Burning, dry, or itching eyes
  2. change in taste
  3. constipation
  4. decreased appetite
  5. decreased weight
  6. discharge, excessive tearing
  7. hair loss or thinning of hair
  8. increased hair growth on the forehead, back, arms, and legs
  9. lack or loss of strength
  10. loss of taste
  11. nausea
  12. redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
  13. trouble sleeping
  14. vomiting

Less common

  1. Eye redness, irritation, or pain

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
