The Mayo Clinic Nicotine Research Program performs research to improve stop-smoking treatment and success rates. Research areas include:
- Treatment with drugs and counseling
- Complementary and alternative treatments
- Smokeless tobacco and electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use
- Stop-smoking programs for certain groups of people, such as those who are overweight, have cancer, or are going to have or recently had surgery
- Treatment outcome differences in stop-smoking programs among certain groups of people, such as people of different ethnicities, races or sexes
