Doctors and scientists at Mayo Clinic are studying ways to predict breast cancer risk. For those with a high risk of cancer, researchers are studying ways to reduce the risk that breast cancer will develop and ways to use imaging tests to detect breast cancer early.
Mayo Clinic is one of a select group of medical centers in the United States to be recognized as a Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) for breast cancer research, funded by the National Cancer Institute.
Cancer research is conducted in coordination with Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center receives funding from the National Cancer Institute and is designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center. This designation recognizes the institution's scientific excellence and multidisciplinary resources focused on cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
