The Inborn Errors of Metabolism Clinic within the Department of Clinical Genomics provides comprehensive services, including medical and nutritional, to children and adults with inborn errors of metabolism. The care may be inpatient or outpatient, depending on each individual's needs. Inborn errors of metabolism include urea cycle disorders and other disorders of amino acid metabolism, organic acidemias, fatty-acid oxidation disorders, congenital disorders of glycosylation, and others.
To ensure you or your child receives the exact care needed, our team includes:
- Two board-certified biochemical geneticists.
- Multiple other geneticists.
- An experienced metabolic dietitian.
- A dedicated metabolic nurse.
- A genetic counselor with experience in metabolics and newborn screening.
When you come to Mayo Clinic, specialists will perform an initial evaluation that includes a detailed history, physical exam, and diagnostic biochemical and genetics testing.
