Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Blood in the whites of the eyes
  2. blurred vision or eye pain
  3. eye irritation or redness

Rare

  1. Blindness
  2. color blindness
  3. decreased vision or other changes in vision

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Abnormal tearing of eyes
  2. burning or stinging of eyes
  3. chills
  4. cough
  5. diarrhea
  6. double vision
  7. dry eyes
  8. fever
  9. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  10. headache
  11. itching of eyes
  12. joint pain
  13. loss of appetite
  14. muscle aches and pains
  15. nausea
  16. runny nose
  17. shivering
  18. sore throat
  19. sweating
  20. trouble sleeping
  21. unusual tiredness or weakness
  22. vomiting

Less common or rare

  1. Discharge from eye
  2. inflammation of the eye
  3. redness, pain, swelling of eye, eyelid, or inner lining of eyelid
  4. sensitivity to light

More common

  1. Feeling of having something in the eye
  2. increased or decreased length of eyelashes

Less common or rare

  1. Change in the color of the iris or eyelid
  2. increase in number of eyelashes
  3. difficulty seeing at night
  4. increased sensitivity of eyes to sunlight
