Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. agitation
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. bleeding or bruising
  5. blood in the urine or stools
  6. blurred vision
  7. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  8. chest pain or discomfort
  9. clay-colored stools
  10. cold sweats
  11. confusion about identity, place, and time
  12. continuing ringing, buzzing, or other unexplained noise in the ears
  13. convulsions
  14. cool, pale skin
  15. cough or hoarseness
  16. dark urine
  17. decrease in the frequency of urination
  18. decreased urine output or volume
  19. depression
  20. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  21. difficulty with speaking
  22. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  23. double vision
  24. drooling
  25. dry mouth
  26. false beliefs that cannot be changed by facts
  27. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  28. feeling of warmth
  29. feeling that others are watching you or controlling your behavior
  30. feeling that others can hear your thoughts
  31. feeling, seeing, or hearing things that are not there
  32. fever with or without chills
  33. flushed, dry skin
  34. fruit-like breath odor
  35. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  36. headache
  37. hearing loss
  38. hostility
  39. hyperventilation
  40. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  41. inability to speak
  42. increased hunger
  43. increased need to urinate
  44. increased thirst
  45. increased urination
  46. irritability
  47. itching or rash
  48. lack of coordination
  49. lethargy
  50. loss of appetite
  51. loss of balance control
  52. lower back or side pain
  53. mood or mental changes
  54. muscle spasm or jerking of all extremities
  55. muscle trembling or stiffness
  56. muscle twitching
  57. nausea
  58. nightmares
  59. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  60. painful or difficult urination
  61. passing urine more often
  62. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  63. pounding in the ears
  64. rapid weight gain
  65. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  66. restlessness
  67. shakiness and unsteady walk
  68. shuffling walk
  69. slow speech
  70. slurred speech
  71. sore throat
  72. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  73. stiffness of the limbs
  74. sudden loss of consciousness
  75. sweating
  76. swelling of the face, ankles, legs, or hands
  77. swollen glands
  78. talking, feeling, and acting with excitement
  79. trouble in holding or releasing urine
  80. trouble sleeping
  81. twisting movements of the body
  82. uncontrolled movements, especially of the face, neck, and back
  83. unpleasant breath odor
  84. unsteadiness, awkwardness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  85. unusual behavior
  86. unusual tiredness or weakness
  87. vomiting of blood
  88. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet
  89. weight gain or loss
  90. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps
  2. bigger, dilated, or enlarged pupils (black part of the eye)
  3. black tongue
  4. bloating
  5. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  6. diarrhea
  7. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  8. disturbance of accommodation
  9. enlargement of the breast
  10. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  11. heartburn
  12. hives or welts
  13. inability to have or keep an erection
  14. increase in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  15. increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  16. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  17. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  18. pain or discomfort in the chest, upper stomach, or throat
  19. peculiar taste
  20. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  21. severe sunburn
  22. small red or purple spots on the skin
  23. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both women and men
  24. swelling of the testicles
  25. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  26. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck
  27. unexpected milk flow from the breasts

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
