Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  3. body aches or pain
  4. chills
  5. cough
  6. diarrhea
  7. dizziness
  8. ear congestion
  9. fever
  10. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  11. headache
  12. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  13. joint pain
  14. loss of appetite
  15. loss of voice
  16. muscle aches and pains
  17. nausea
  18. new loss of taste or smell
  19. nosebleeds
  20. paralysis
  21. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  22. rapid weight gain
  23. red or black, tarry stools
  24. red or dark brown urine
  25. shivering
  26. sneezing
  27. sore throat
  28. stuffy or runny nose
  29. sweating
  30. swelling around the eyes
  31. swelling or puffiness of the face
  32. tender, swollen glands in neck
  33. tingling of the hands or feet
  34. trouble breathing
  35. trouble sleeping
  36. trouble swallowing
  37. unusual tiredness or weakness
  38. unusual weight gain or loss
  39. vomiting
  40. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds

Incidence not known

  1. Dark urine
  2. increased sensitivity of the eyes to sunlight
  3. itching
  4. rash with flat lesions or small raised lesions on the skin
  5. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  6. severe sunburn
  7. skin rash
  8. stomach pain, severe
  9. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
  2. changes in hair color
  3. chapped, red, or swollen lips
  4. cracked, dry, or scaly skin
  5. irritation or soreness of the mouth
  6. loosening of the fingernails
  7. redness or soreness around the fingernails
  8. scaling, redness, burning, pain, or other signs of inflammation of the lips
  9. sores, ulcers, or white spots on lips, tongue, or inside the mouth
  10. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
