Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. stomach pain

Less common

  1. Bleeding from the rectum
  2. bloody stools
  3. dizziness or lightheadedness
  4. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  5. headache, severe and throbbing
  6. pale skin
  7. sensation of spinning
  8. troubled breathing with exertion
  9. unusual bleeding or bruising
  10. unusual tiredness or weakness

Rare

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. confusion
  3. difficulty in speaking
  4. double vision
  5. headache
  6. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  7. inability to speak
  8. nausea
  9. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  10. slow speech
  11. sweating
  12. thoughts or attempts at killing oneself
  13. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Blurred vision
  2. confusion
  3. constipation
  4. cough
  5. dark urine
  6. difficulty swallowing
  7. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  8. fast heartbeat
  9. hives, itching, skin rash
  10. indigestion
  11. light-colored stools
  12. new or worsening stomach pain
  13. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  14. severe diarrhea
  15. severe nausea or vomiting
  16. stomach pain, usually after eating a meal
  17. stomach tenderness
  18. sweating
  19. tightness in the chest
  20. upper right abdominal pain
  21. yellow eyes and skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Bloated, full feeling
  2. chills
  3. cold sweats
  4. confusion
  5. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from lying or sitting position
  6. excess air or gas in the stomach or bowels
  7. headache
  8. passing gas

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Belching
  2. difficulty in moving
  3. heartburn
  4. increased appetite
  5. indigestion
  6. lack or loss of strength
  7. muscle pain or stiffness
  8. pain, swelling, or redness in the joints
  9. stomach discomfort or upset

Incidence not known

  1. Thinning or loss of hair
