Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. confusion
  4. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  5. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  6. slow or irregular heartbeat
  7. sweating
  8. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  2. chills
  3. decrease in frequency or amount of urine
  4. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  5. fever
  6. painful urination

Rare

  1. Absence of or decrease in body movement
  2. agitation
  3. anxiety
  4. bluish color of the skin or changes in skin color
  5. changes in vision
  6. clumsiness
  7. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  8. cough
  9. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  10. difficulty breathing
  11. drooping upper eyelids
  12. drowsiness
  13. fast or irregular heartbeat
  14. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  15. hearing loss
  16. loss of appetite
  17. loss of consciousness
  18. low body temperature
  19. mood or mental changes
  20. muscle aches
  21. muscle spasms (tetany) or twitching seizures
  22. muscle weakness
  23. nausea
  24. nervousness
  25. noisy breathing
  26. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  27. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  28. problems with memory
  29. seeing or hearing things that are not there
  30. seizures
  31. severe sleepiness
  32. severe, unusual tiredness or weakness
  33. shivering
  34. slow heartbeat
  35. swelling of the foot or leg tenderness
  36. tightness in the chest
  37. trembling
  38. trouble sleeping
  39. vomiting
  40. weak or feeble pulse
  41. weight gain
  42. yellow skin or eyes

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. depression
  3. difficulty swallowing
  4. excitation
  5. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  6. hives, itching, skin rash
  7. inability to breathe without assistance
  8. paralysis of the arms
  9. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  10. restlessness
  11. slow heartbeat
  12. tremors

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Headache

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. runny or stuffy nose
  3. sneezing

Rare

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  2. difficulty in moving
  3. frequent urge to defecate
  4. joint pain or swelling
  5. lack or loss of strength
  6. loss of bowel control
  7. muscle pain, cramps, or stiffness
  8. straining while passing stool
