Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bladder pain
  4. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  5. bloody or cloudy urine
  6. blurred vision
  7. body aches or pain
  8. bone pain
  9. chest pain
  10. chills
  11. cough
  12. cough producing mucus
  13. difficult or labored breathing
  14. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  15. difficulty in moving
  16. dizziness
  17. ear congestion
  18. fever or chills
  19. frequent urge to urinate
  20. headache
  21. joint pain
  22. loss of voice
  23. lower back or side pain
  24. muscle aches or cramps
  25. muscle pain or stiffness
  26. muscle spasm
  27. nasal congestion
  28. nervousness
  29. pale skin
  30. pounding in the ears
  31. rapid weight gain
  32. severe pain
  33. slow or fast heartbeat
  34. sneezing
  35. sore throat
  36. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  37. stomach pain
  38. stuffy or runny nose
  39. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  40. swollen glands
  41. swollen joints
  42. tightness in the chest
  43. tingling of the hands or feet
  44. unusual bleeding or bruising
  45. unusual tiredness or weakness
  46. unusual weight gain or loss

Less common

  1. Cracked lips
  2. difficulty in swallowing
  3. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  4. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  5. hoarseness
  6. loss of appetite
  7. nausea
  8. shivering
  9. sweating
  10. trouble sleeping
  11. upper stomach pain
  12. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Bloody, black, or tarry stools
  2. blurred vision or other change in vision
  3. dilated neck veins
  4. extreme fatigue
  5. eye pain
  6. feeling of discomfort
  7. high fever
  8. inflammation of the joints
  9. irregular breathing
  10. irregular heartbeat
  11. itching
  12. rash
  13. redness of the eye
  14. sensitivity of the eye to light
  15. severe stomach pain
  16. severe vomiting, sometimes with blood
  17. tearing
  18. unexplained bleeding or bruising

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Belching
  2. bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  3. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  4. constipation
  5. hair loss
  6. heartburn
  7. indigestion
  8. lack or loss of strength
  9. pain in the mouth and throat
  10. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  11. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  12. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  13. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Less common

  1. Burning, dry, or itching of the eyes
  2. discharge, excessive tearing
  3. redness, pain, swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
