Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. anxiety
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. bleeding gums
  5. blood in the urine or stools
  6. blurred vision
  7. chills
  8. cold sweats
  9. confusion
  10. cool, pale skin
  11. cough
  12. decreased urine output
  13. diarrhea
  14. difficulty in breathing
  15. dizziness
  16. dry mouth
  17. feeling of warmth
  18. fever
  19. flushed, dry skin
  20. fruit-like breath odor
  21. headache
  22. hoarseness
  23. hostility
  24. increased hunger
  25. increased thirst
  26. increased urination
  27. irritability
  28. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  29. loss of appetite
  30. loss of consciousness
  31. lower back, side, arm, leg, or stomach pain
  32. mood changes
  33. mood or mental changes
  34. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  35. muscle pain or twitching
  36. nausea
  37. nervousness
  38. nightmares
  39. numbness and tingling around the mouth, lips, hands, fingertips, or feet
  40. painful or difficult urination
  41. pale skin
  42. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  43. pounding in the ears
  44. rapid weight gain
  45. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  46. restlessness
  47. seizures
  48. shakiness
  49. slow, fast, or irregular heartbeat
  50. slurred speech
  51. sore throat
  52. sweating
  53. swelling of the face, feet, lower legs, ankles, or hands
  54. tremor
  55. troubled breathing
  56. troubled breathing with exertion
  57. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  58. unexplained weight loss
  59. unusual bleeding or bruising
  60. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
  61. vomiting
  62. weakness or heaviness of the legs

Less common

  1. Bone pain
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. dilated neck veins
  4. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  5. extreme tiredness or weakness
  6. irregular breathing
  7. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  8. swollen glands

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Constipation
  2. decreased appetite
  3. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  4. loss or change in taste

Less common

  1. Difficulty in moving
  2. neck pain

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
