Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Being forgetful
  2. black, tarry, stools
  3. bladder pain
  4. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  5. bloody or cloudy urine
  6. blurred vision
  7. chest tightness
  8. chills
  9. confusion as to time, place, or person
  10. cough
  11. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  12. discouragement
  13. dizziness
  14. falls
  15. fear, nervousness
  16. feeling sad or empty
  17. fever
  18. frequent urge to urinate
  19. headache
  20. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  21. irritability
  22. lack of appetite
  23. loss of interest or pleasure
  24. loss of memory
  25. lower back or side pain
  26. nervousness
  27. painful or difficult urination
  28. pale skin
  29. pounding in the ears
  30. problems with memory
  31. problems with speech or speaking
  32. rapid weight gain
  33. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  34. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  35. slow or fast heartbeat
  36. sore throat
  37. tingling of the hands or feet
  38. trouble breathing
  39. trouble concentrating
  40. trouble sleeping
  41. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  42. unusual bleeding or bruising
  43. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
  44. unusual tiredness or weakness
  45. unusual weight gain or loss

Less common

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. confusion
  3. decreased urination
  4. diarrhea
  5. dry mouth
  6. fainting
  7. heartburn
  8. increase in heart rate
  9. increased thirst
  10. indigestion
  11. irregular heartbeat
  12. itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth on the skin
  13. lightheadedness
  14. loss of consciousness
  15. muscle pain, cramps, or weakness
  16. nausea
  17. problems with movement or walking
  18. rapid, shallow breathing
  19. seizures
  20. severe stomach pain, cramping, or burning
  21. sunken eyes
  22. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  23. vomiting
  24. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds, severe and continuing
  25. wrinkled skin
  26. yellow skin or eyes

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. constipation
  3. decreased appetite
  4. difficulty in moving
  5. increased weight
  6. joint pain or swelling
  7. muscle stiffness
  8. pain in the arms or legs
  9. stuffy nose

Less common

  1. Lack or loss of strength
