Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Absent, missed, or irregular menstrual periods
  2. backache
  3. belching
  4. bleeding between periods
  5. blurred vision
  6. breast tenderness, pain, enlargement, or secretion
  7. change in the amount of bleeding during periods
  8. change in the pattern of monthly periods
  9. changes in skin color, pain, tenderness, swelling of the foot or leg
  10. chest pain or discomfort
  11. chills
  12. clay-colored stools
  13. clear or bloody discharge from the nipple
  14. cough
  15. dark urine
  16. diarrhea
  17. difficulty swallowing
  18. dimpling of the breast skin
  19. dizziness
  20. dull ache or feeling of pressure or heaviness in the legs
  21. fast heartbeat
  22. fever
  23. full or bloated feeling or pressure in the stomach
  24. headache
  25. headache, severe and throbbing
  26. heartburn
  27. hives
  28. inability to speak
  29. indigestion
  30. inverted nipple
  31. itching of the vagina or genital area
  32. itching skin near damaged veins
  33. light vaginal bleeding between periods and after intercourse
  34. loss of appetite
  35. lump in the breast or under the arm
  36. nausea and vomiting
  37. nervousness
  38. pain during sexual intercourse
  39. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back or neck
  40. persistent crusting or scaling of the nipple
  41. pounding in the ears puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  42. redness or swelling of the breast
  43. seizures
  44. severe or sudden headache
  45. slow or fast heartbeat
  46. slurred speech
  47. sore on the skin of the breast that does not heal
  48. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  49. stopping of menstrual bleeding
  50. sweating
  51. swelling, pain, or tenderness in the upper abdominal area
  52. swollen feet and ankles
  53. temporary blindness
  54. thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor
  55. tightness in the chest
  56. twitching, uncontrolled movements of the tongue, lips, face, arms, or legs
  57. unpleasant breath odor
  58. unusual stopping of menstrual bleeding
  59. unusual tiredness or weakness
  60. vomiting of blood
  61. weakness in the arm or leg on one side of the body, sudden and severe
  62. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Acne
  2. changes in weight or appetite
  3. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  4. inability to have or keep an erection
  5. increased hair growth, especially on the face
  6. intolerance to contact lenses
  7. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  8. loss of hair on the scalp
