Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding
  2. blistering
  3. burning
  4. coldness
  5. diarrhea
  6. discoloration of skin
  7. feeling of pressure
  8. hives
  9. infection
  10. inflammation
  11. itching skin
  12. lumps
  13. numbness
  14. pain
  15. redness of skin
  16. scarring
  17. skin rash
  18. soreness
  19. stinging
  20. swelling
  21. tenderness
  22. tingling
  23. ulceration
  24. unusually warm skin

Less common

  1. Bluish color changes in skin color
  2. dry, red, hot, or irritated skin
  3. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  4. pain, tenderness, or swelling of foot or leg

Rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps
  2. abdominal tenderness
  3. bloating
  4. convulsions
  5. diarrhea, watery and severe, which may also be bloody
  6. fainting or loss of consciousness
  7. fast or irregular breathing
  8. fever
  9. increased thirst
  10. loss of bladder control
  11. muscle spasm or jerking of all extremities
  12. nausea
  13. sudden loss of consciousness
  14. swelling of eyes or eyelids
  15. tightness in chest
  16. trouble in breathing
  17. unusual tiredness or weakness
  18. unusual weight loss
  19. vomiting
  20. wheezing

Incidence not known

  1. Cough
  2. difficulty swallowing
  3. itching, puffiness, or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  4. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  5. shortness of breath

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. chest pain
  3. confusion about identity, place, and time
  4. drowsiness
  5. headache
  6. mental depression

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. blurred vision
  4. body aches or pain
  5. congestion
  6. difficult or labored breathing
  7. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  8. dizziness
  9. dryness or soreness of throat
  10. faintness or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position
  11. fear
  12. flushing
  13. heartburn
  14. hoarseness
  15. indigestion
  16. itching of the vagina or genital area
  17. lack or loss of strength
  18. leg pain
  19. nervousness
  20. pain during sexual intercourse
  21. pounding in the ears
  22. runny nose
  23. sleeplessness
  24. slow heartbeat
  25. sore mouth or tongue
  26. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  27. sudden sweating
  28. tender, swollen glands in neck
  29. thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor
  30. tightness in chest
  31. trouble sleeping
  32. unable to sleep
  33. voice changes
  34. white patches in mouth and/or on tongue
