Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Discouragement
  2. feeling sad or empty
  3. irritability
  4. lack of appetite
  5. loss of interest or pleasure
  6. mental depression
  7. thoughts of killing oneself
  8. tiredness
  9. trouble concentrating
  10. trouble sleeping

Less common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  3. chest pain
  4. chills
  5. cough
  6. difficulty with breathing
  7. ear congestion
  8. fever
  9. headache
  10. loss of voice
  11. runny or stuffy nose
  12. sneezing
  13. sore throat
  14. tightness in the chest
  15. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness
  17. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. bloating
  3. bloody or cloudy urine
  4. confusion
  5. constipation
  6. dark urine
  7. decreased appetite
  8. decreased urination
  9. diarrhea
  10. difficulty swallowing
  11. dizziness
  12. dry mouth
  13. fast heartbeat
  14. fast, shallow breathing
  15. frequent urination
  16. hostility
  17. increased thirst
  18. indigestion
  19. irritability
  20. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  21. light-colored stools
  22. muscle pain or cramps
  23. muscle tenderness, wasting, or weakness
  24. nausea
  25. pain in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  26. rapid weight gain
  27. seizures
  28. skin rash, hives, itching
  29. sleepiness
  30. stomach discomfort
  31. swelling of the face, ankles, hands, feet, or lower legs
  32. unusual drowsiness, dullness, or feeling of sluggishness
  33. vomiting
  34. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Abnormal dreams

Less common

  1. Back pain
  2. belching
  3. difficulty with moving
  4. heartburn
  5. pain in the joints
  6. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  7. stomach discomfort or upset

  1. Lack or loss of strength
