Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chills
  3. dizziness
  4. drooling
  5. fever
  6. headache
  7. inability to move the eyes
  8. inability to sit still
  9. increased blinking or spasms of the eyelid
  10. loss of balance control
  11. muscle trembling, jerking, or stiffness
  12. need to keep moving
  13. nervousness
  14. pounding in the ears
  15. restlessness
  16. shuffling walk
  17. slow or fast heartbeat
  18. sticking out of the tongue
  19. stiffness of the limbs
  20. trouble with breathing, speaking, or swallowing
  21. twisting movements of the body
  22. uncontrolled movements, especially of the face, neck, arms, or legs
  23. unusual facial expressions

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. confusion
  4. decreased urine output
  5. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  6. dizziness
  7. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  8. frequent urge to urinate
  9. increased thirst
  10. loss of consciousness
  11. lower back or side pain
  12. muscle aches, pain, or cramps
  13. nausea
  14. seizures
  15. sore throat
  16. stuffy or runny nose
  17. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  18. thoughts or attempts at killing oneself
  19. unusual tiredness or weakness
  20. vomiting

Rare

  1. Burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  2. dark urine
  3. difficulty in speaking
  4. double vision
  5. general tiredness and weakness
  6. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  7. inability to speak
  8. indigestion
  9. light-colored stools
  10. muscle spasms or stiffness
  11. slow speech
  12. stomach upset
  13. tenderness in the stomach area
  14. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  15. yellow eyes and skin

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. confusion
  3. cough
  4. diarrhea
  5. drooling
  6. high fever
  7. increased sweating
  8. itching
  9. joint pain
  10. lip smacking or puckering
  11. muscle trembling, jerking, or stiffness
  12. puffing of the cheeks
  13. rapid or worm-like movements of the tongue
  14. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  15. red, irritated eyes
  16. severe muscle stiffness
  17. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  18. uncontrolled chewing movements
  19. unusually pale skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Decreased appetite
  2. difficulty having a bowel movement
  3. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  4. stomach pain
  5. trouble sleeping

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. back pain
  3. belching
  4. difficulty with moving
  5. dry mouth
  6. heartburn
  7. indigestion
  8. irritability
  9. pain in the arms or legs
  10. rash
  11. shaking
  12. weight gain
