Research

Mayo Clinic researchers are actively investigating new ways to identify and care for people with Lynch syndrome, as well as novel opportunities for cancer prevention.

Mayo Clinic doctors have made many important discoveries that have contributed to the improved care of people with Lynch syndrome. For instance, Mayo Clinic researchers were among the first to recognize microsatellite instability in cancer cells and developed a microsatellite instability (MSI) tumor test for identifying Lynch syndrome in people with colon cancer. MSI tumor testing helps identify which cancers are most likely to be caused by Lynch syndrome.
