Research
Mayo Clinic researchers are working to better understand the genetic, electrical and structural causes of Brugada syndrome. Through the Sudden Death Genomics Laboratory and Cardiovascular Research Center, investigators are studying disease-causing genes, identifying new risk factors, improving diagnostic testing and exploring evidence that Brugada syndrome may involve both irregular heartbeats and structural changes in the heart. This work aims to improve early detection, more accurately predict who is at risk of life-threatening arrhythmias, and develop more personalized approaches to treatment and prevention.
