The W. Hall Wendel Jr. Musculoskeletal Center at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, is one of the world's most advanced musculoskeletal facilities.
The center unites Mayo Clinic's multidisciplinary orthopedic specialties and services with the technology needed to provide state-of-the-art diagnosis, outpatient treatment and rehabilitation for all types of musculoskeletal conditions. This same type of integrated care is also available at Mayo Clinic's campuses in Florida and Arizona.
As a result of the center's integrated design, patients easily, quickly and conveniently go through radiographic imaging, clinical consultations and treatment areas. All services are provided on the 14th and 15th floors of the interconnected Gonda and Mayo buildings.
Comprehensive orthopedic care
Opened in 2007, the center helps integrate the care of people treated by orthopedic surgeons and other musculoskeletal specialists, including:
- Physical medicine and rehabilitation consultants
- Rheumatologists
- Endocrinologists (for metabolic bone conditions)
- Radiologists and anesthesiologists to perform image-guided injections for pain management
- Pediatric orthopedic specialists from the T. Denny Sanford Pediatric Outpatient Center
The 245,000-square-foot facility contains 57 examination rooms; cast and splint facilities; a hand therapy area; an outpatient surgical procedure center; image-guided injection rooms; a private family waiting area; and private pre- and post-procedure rooms for patients and families.
