A full range of treatment options
The pediatric dermatology team offers some of the newest technology in lasers, in particular for the treatment of vascular birthmarks such as port-wine stains and hemangiomas. Medicine to relax your child or control pain are used to make these procedures more comfortable. These types of medicines are called sedatives and topical anesthetics.
Most pediatric dermatologic care is provided in the clinic with no need for a hospital stay. If a hospital stay is needed, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, has skin treatment services for children at the Mayo Eugenio Litta Children's Hospital. These specialized skin treatments are especially helpful for children with severe psoriasis, atopic eczema and other skin conditions that haven't responded to usual therapies.
